Coco coir made from shredded coconut husk is great medium for soilless gardening. Besides gardening, we see coco coir used for reptile bedding and mycology. Coco coir used as a stand-alone works great or when amended with other mediums. Combine coco coir with perlite, earthworm castings, vermiculite, pumice, or various trace minerals to achieve desired results.
